  • Am I automatically covered for cruises?
  • Not automatically. You must purchase our cruise pack within the payment process to be covered for any medical treatment you receive on board and for helicopter evacuation should you require emergency medical assistance.

  • Do I need cruise cover for Australian cruises?
  • Yes, you are still required to purchase our cruise pack, even when sailng in domestic waters to be covered for any medical treatment you receive on board and for helicopter evacuation. You can select 'domestic' or 'Australia' in the quote process, and then add the cruise pack as an extra. 

  • My cruise is visiting 10 ports? Do I need to tell Zoom all destinations?
  • Yes, you must tell us every country or region the ship will visit. If you neglect to do so you may not be covered for all the countries you are visiting.

  • How much does it cost to visit the on-board doctor?
  • Simple treatments, consultations and medications on board a ship are charged at private rates. These can amount to $250 for just a quick 10-minute appointment. If you purchase our cruise pack add-on you'll be covered for any on-board doctor visits, prescribed drugs, hospital stays and more.

  • What age limits apply to cruise travel insurance policies with Zoom?
  • We cover travellers under the age of 85 only. Travellers 79 years can purchase a policy for a maximum trip duration of 365 days. Those aged between 80-85 years can purchase a policy for a maximum trip duration of 184 days only. 

  • What age limits apply to annual multi trip policies? 
  • Annual multi-trip policies are only available to those under 69 years. If you want to add-on our ski or adventure pack, that's only available to those under 69 too. 

  • Are my golf clubs covered? 
  • Yes. You are covered up to a combined total of $750 for your golf clubs, golf bag and golf trolley. If you are wanting a higher level of cover for individual golf items or higher combined limit you will need to buy the Golf Pack add on. The Golf Pack add on provides cover for your own Golf equipment (golf clubs, golf bag, golf trolley and golf shoes), Golf Equipment Hire (golf clubs, golf bag, golf trolley and golf shoes), Golf Green Fees and Hole in One cover.

  • My cruise ship has a zipline am I covered?
  • Yes, just make sure you include the Adventure pack when purchasing your cover in order to be covered for ziplining.

  • My cruise ship has a climbing wall am I covered?
  • Zoom automatically covers indoor rock climbing, under appropriate supervision for no additional cost. If you are going to do outdoor rock climbing you'll need to add our Adventure Pack during the quote process. You must be using ropes and appropriate safety gear. 

  • Do I need to purchase the cruise pack for sailing trips?
  • Cruising and sailing are considered two different things.  Zoom automatically covers sailing on yachts, boats, catermans etc up to 10 nautical miles off any land mass for no additional cost. Or from 11 to 15 nautical miles off any land mass with the purchase of our Adventure Pack. Note there is no cover for racing. 

  • Can I travel with my dependant grandchildren?
  • Yes, dependants will be included under your policy for free. They are defined as your own children or grandchildren, under the age of 19 and are not in full time employment.

  • I have high value items; how much can I insure them for?
  • If you’re travelling with gadgets or more expensive items you can purchase additional cover for up to $5,000. Please note, you can only buy additional high value item cover under our comprehensive plan.

  • How much luggage cover is with comprehensive policies?
  • Our comprehensive luggage cover is available up to $7,500 for all items combined. However, single item limits apply; personal laptops and computers are insured up to $3,000, mobile phones and tablets up to $1,000, and all other items up to $750. If you have an expensive item that does not fit into these categories, you can choose to insure it separately as a high value item for up to $5,000.

  • What excess applies to senior travellers?
  • A standard excess fee of $200 applies to travellers aged up to 79. A $2,000 excess applies to travellers aged 80-85 for medical-related claims.

You should read your policy document (PDS) carefully to ensure you select the cover that is best for you.

You can add optional cover for extras such as Rental Vehicle Excess if you are hiring a car, Sports Activities Pack if you’re feeling adventurous and Snow Cover if you are hitting the slopes.  These can be added during the quote process.
